HOW WE WANT IT

One story per submission please,  as an attachment only (not in the body of the message) with your name and  the title in the heading. Send it winging through the ethers to escapeclauses@shaw.ca with “Submission: Your Story Title  (your actual story title, not these words) in the subject line.

Second Reading period: we will post closer to time. Look for June 2010.

All submissions should use Standard Manuscript Format and be attached to your email as an .rtf file. Please include a short bio of no more than 100 words in your email as well as your name, story title, genre, and word count. We are not accepting simultaneous subs nor multiple submissions. One per person, please.

Fiction submissions should be no longer than 5000 words.

POETRY

We have done our nut with poetry, as the squirrels say. We will no longer be accepting it.

REPRINTS, ARTICLES, ART

Escape Clause is not accepting articles or reprints, only original unpublished work. We have the second cover, but we will post a new notice about interior art when we have further information.

RIGHTS & PAYMENT

Escape Clause pays a flat rate of $200 CDN for stories up to 2000-5000 words. Poems a flat rate of $50 CDN.
(Payment is submitted upon publication).

We buy North American Serial Rights, and non-exclusive limited electronic rights as:  the story may be (briefly) excerpted online in connection with promotion and publicity, and the writer's bio similarly displayed.  All rights revert to the author if the story has not been published within one year of acceptance.
